Orbi is a newest addition to the fleet of routers that are manufactured by Netgear. If you are using this particular router and unable to connect to Wi-Fi when nothing has changed at home, then you need to ask yourself a few questions such as,
- Is your Internet modem turned on or not?
- Do I have little or no Wi-Fi signal?
- Always nothing? Connect a network wire!
- Does the Internet connection refuse the password?
1. Is your Internet modem turned on or not?
This first question seems silly, yet, the off modem is the most common cause of a Wi-Fi network that does not work. Check if the Wi-Fi modem is connected to electricity (see the LEDs). If this is the case, but the Wi-Fi is gone, try to remove the plug for about ten seconds and restart the terminal. Start-up may take more than a minute. These are bugs and it happens. It still does not work, then you need to go directly to pint 3.
2. Do I have little or no Wi-Fi signal?
Your Wi-Fi does not work. Ok, but is the signal weak or the connection difficult? Several things can happen when Wi-Fi does not work properly. Either you are too far from your terminal. Either element disrupts the connection.
If you are too far from the kiosk, the solution is to buy an amplifier or repeater to have Wi-Fi anywhere in the house. It will extend the coverage in your home by several tens of meters. The configuration is very simple: you plug the repeater into the socket, you connect the repeater to the terminal via the mobile application and the signal is amplified for good. This is essential in a multi-story house or apartment with thick walls.
If there are any elements that interfere with Wi-Fi coverage, try disabling one or the other device (baby phone, cordless phone, microwave oven). Your Wi-Fi terminal may be broadcasting on a congested channel. Refer to your modem documentation to edit the channel.
3. Still nothing? Connect Ethernet Cable
Place a device with a network jack (RJ45) next to the terminal and connect it “old fashioned”, i.e., with a network cable (Ethernet). Most computers have a plug of this type.
Internet still not working? Well, then this is actually a problem of Wi-Fi. Maybe you have to try to change the settings of your Wi-Fi: network name, Wi-Fi channel, connection type (2.4 or 5 GHz). Again, refer to the modem documentation. Setting up a modem has become much easier since the arrival of Netgear Orbi system. In this case, a mobile application can adjust Wi-Fi much easier than through your Internet browser, where each manipulation exposes you to a breakdown if you do not know much.
Still nothing? You have to reset the Wi-Fi terminal. To do this, refer to the documentation in the “reset” section: this is not a fun step, but it may be due to the software of your computer and/or modem, which no longer works optimally.
4. Does the connection refuse the password?
If you have lost the password, then you will have to consult your ISP to retrieve your password or create a new one. For more information Netgear Orbi Support you can visit Netgear Orbi Help.
