NETGEAR Orbi is very easy to configure, as you just need to connect the router unit to a modem or another router using the supplied Ethernet cable.
To enhance Wi-Fi, therefore, Orbi can be connected with the modem provided by the chosen telecommunications operator or combined, for example, with a NETGEAR modem or router or any other manufacturer.
Subsequently, to configure the Orbi system, it is sufficient to connect via Wi-Fi to the router unit by selecting the preset wireless network (default SSID and password are indicated on the label applied on the front).
By typing orbilogin.net in the browser address bar, you enter the NETGEAR system configuration procedure.
The Orbi router is capable of detecting any IP conflicts on the local network and is able to autonomously modify its local, private address if it were used by the gateway (modem or ADSL/fiber router).
The configuration will continue with the detection of any Orbi satellite units that must have been previously positioned and turned on.
Orbi will automatically configure and initialize all the eventual “satellites” distributed in the building: the NETGEAR Orbi router and satellite kit, however, already allows itself to meet all the most common needs by solving all the problems related to the availability of the Wi-Fi signal in the internal and external spaces of the building.
The last step, which we advise you not to omit, consists of downloading and installing a possible firmware update.
Orbi automatically proceeds to check for the availability of an updated firmware: to apply it on routers and satellites, simply click on the Update all button.
The Orbi configuration does not normally require any additional intervention. More experienced users who want to go deeper will still be able to access the administration interface of the “Orbi system” by typing the local IP address of the router unit in the URL bar of the browser (after entering the username and password chosen in installation phase).
Acting on Orbi’s advanced settings, you can change the criteria for assigning IP addresses and, above all, configuring the system as a router or access point.
Among the advanced settings there are those for the forwarding of traffic on the various ports, the connection to a dynamic DNS service, the possibility to activate or disable UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) and, very useful, the VPN server (based on OpenVPN) integrated that allows you to connect remotely to the local network in complete safety.
Orbi – both router and satellite unit – is able to approximate the position of the Wi-Fi device that must receive the data and improve the signal in that direction while simultaneously reducing the power in the other directions.
The system will, therefore, make it easier to overcome obstacles by concentrating the Wi-Fi signal where it is actually needed. For more information Netgear Orbi Setup you can visit Setup Netgear Orbi.
